Chia seeds have many healthy properties that may them a healthy addition to our weekly consumption. For such a little seed, what health benefits does it have? Chia seeds are known for making individuals more “chia”ful….just kidding, but they do help in many other ways.
Have you ever left chia seeds in water? They swell up and retain water! If you never have done this, try it because when you consume chia seeds and drink water, they do the same for your body to assist with retaining water for hydration.
For being such a small seed they contain a lot of nutrients for a small amount of calories. In addition, they’re high in fiber and have a decent amount of protein. Continuing with their healthy nutrition, they also have omega 3 fatty acids which are found in foods like fish oil which help reduce inflammation, and they have many antioxidants which are also good for reducing inflammation.
